Frank Brunsdon was born and educated in Bristol, South West of England and is a long-suffering Bristol Rovers (football) fan.
Brunsdon started his gases career with Fedgas South Africa in the 1980s, which at that time was a joint venture between Messer Griesheim and Linde, as a sales representative and eventually becoming regional manager for the Natal/Kwazulu region.
He was subsequently promoted to business development manager with Messer South East Asia, based in Singapore, and charged with developing Messer business activities in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and then moving onto India. Brunsdon was later chairman of the specialty gases company in Nanjing China.
For the last 12 years, Brunsdon has been General Manager of Buzwair Gases Qatar, with over 30 years of ‘the most memorable and exiting times’ in the industrial and specialty gases industry and ‘still experiencing new gas applications and technologies with hands on knowledge today’. Some of the most frequent questions he faces about Qatar today include the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament and helium and industrial gas developments in recent years.
Brunsdon cites developing and mentoring young people in our industry as one of his major achievements and reflected, “Somewhere we all have somebody like that, someone who gave us a break – however little or large – out of the generosity in their heart. So, pay it back by paying it forward. Helping some other young person find their way, even if they do not know where they are going yet.”
