Markus is a Partner in our Middle East & North Africa Practice based in Dubai, where he heads the Leadership Consulting practice in the MENA region.

Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, Markus was the CEO for the Middle East and Africa for Aon Hewitt. Prior to this he spent 9 years at Mercer Consulting, where he was the Managing Director for their Middle East business from 2007 – 2011, after managing their Austrian operations.

With over 15 years experience in Consulting, his technical expertise spans across Leadership Development, Organizational Change, large scale HR Transformations, Workforce Planning, Total Rewards, Employee Engagement and Nationalization.

Markus has worked on projects in over 20 countries with major global organizations like DuPont, Alcatel, Nokia, Novartis and Red Bull. His last 10 years have been spent in the Middle East, where he advises C-suite executives and boards on strategic HR and organizational issues, with a proven ability to link strategy to bottom-line business results. His clients include, among many others, CBD, ENBD, FGB, SABIC, STC as well as various governmental entities.

Markus is a frequent speaker at conferences and his commentaries have been published in local and international media including Gulf News, The National, Al Jazeera, the BBC as well as regional radio and TV.

Originally from Austria, Markus has an MBA and a PhD in Economics and Social Sciences from the University of Vienna where he was teaching organizational design and decision making at the MBA program for many years. He has also got a Master in Sport Management from IE University in Madrid. He attended executive programs at the Harvard Business School and the Institute of Directors in London.
