Nicolas Pelissier is co-founder and President of 45-8 Energy, a start-up specializing in the exploration and production of eco-responsible industrial gases, helium, and natural hydrogen.
Pelissier holds a double master’s degree in geology (UniLaSalle) and petroleum geosciences (IFP-School). He started his career at TotalEnergies, where he spent 11 years in charge of oil and gas exploration and development projects.
Following an increased awareness of current environmental issues, he co-founded 45-8 Energy in 2017 with the ambition of using his skills for strong entrepreneurial actions to serve the ecological transition.
With more than $30m raised and over 35 employees, 45-8 Energy is recognized as one of Europe’s leaders in the helium and natural hydrogen E&P sector, with several projects underway in France, Germany, Kosovo, and the US. In September 2024, 45-8 Energy began producing helium at its Nièvre site in the center of France, a first in Western Europe and a world technological first, including a patent on gas separation. The company also commissioned Recycl’He©, the first mobile helium recycling unit in Europe.
Pelissier is also a co-founder and member of the steering committee of the Earth2 initiative, which brings together players in the European underground hydrogen sector. He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of the MATERALIA competitiveness cluster, which specializes in processes, materials, and energy.
